Section A: (2 Marks Each - 9 Questions, Total: 18 Marks)

  1. Simplify: 12(7)+(5).                                       
  2. Find the missing number in the ratio:  3:x :: 9:15.
  3. If 3/4x-3 =12, find the value of  x.(Doing and Undoing)
  4. (i)Identify the coefficient of xy in the expression 4y-7xy+5                                    (ii)Find the number of terms in the expression 6x4y+3z5
  5. Find the value of 3a2b when a=5 and b=3.
  6. A class has 18 boys and 12 girls. Find the ratio of boys to total students and girls to total students.
  7. Classify the expressions as monomial, binomial, or trinomial:
    • (a) 3xz+ 4zy- 2xz +8
    • (b) -7abc
    • (c) 7m2n+67m - 2n + 6
  8. Compare the ratios and determine which is greater: 3:5 or 4:7.
  9. (i) Write an algebraic expression for: "A number y is multiplied by 5 and then 3 is added."                                                                                                                                       (ii) 
                                       Write the general rule that gives the number of matchsticks needed for the n th pattern.

Section B: (3 Marks Each - 4 Questions, Total: 12 Marks)

  1. A submarine is currently at a depth of 350 meters below sea level. It then ascends 125 meters, then descends 200 meters. What is the submarine’s final depth?                 
  2. A bag contains red, blue, and green marbles in the ratio 5:3:2. If there are 100 marbles in total, how many red, blue, and green marbles are there?                                
  3. Solve for in the equation: 3y/4 +2=5.                                                                                                                  
  4. Construct special angles 90° using compass and ruler.
